RE: Exterior Radio Mystery! Weird Need Help!!!!!

I think I'd be examining my life if I was you. If it was rock 'n roll, I'd caulk it up to a remote control somewhere, but Gospel music. That sounds like God is calling.

RE: Toilet Papers

I lived in the country and had an above ground septic system and I used Scott only. Moved to Florida and again had a septic system, used Scott only. Started camping with a toy hauler, then 37' class A, now a 40' class A. I have used Scott ONLY and I haven't had any trouble. Oh and by the way, you're right the RV toilet paper is like sandpaper.

RE: AC not workie - Please help!

We had a toy hauler we didn't use as much as we should and it seem like everytime we wanted to use it the AC would bind. My husband would go up on the roof take the cover off, I'd turn the unit on and he'd give the fan a spin, then we'd be fine again. It would just bind up and it needed a little help to get going.

RE: Tampa, FL

We haven't been in more than a year, but it was a very nice campground. Very clean, nicely manicured sites. It's sort of out of the way. Very nice!

RE: "Half TIme" oven

We had one in an RV that we had for about six months; the 1/2 time wasn't bad. I had to play with the temperature and cooking times. I reduced the cook temperature and sometimes lengthen the cooking time. It took some getting used to, but it was better than no oven.

RE: Hot Water go bye bye

Check the ouside shower! If that's on for some reason you won't get hot water. We know that from experience.

RE: GPS routing, RT numbers??

It might not be a bad idea to update your maps if it's a couple years old. That might take care of the problem, also you might want to update the software of the GPS itself. I just did that for my Streetpilot 7200 and I've noticed a difference.

It looked like the roof came down right on the driver. Oh that just wasn't good I'm sure.

RE: Savannah Oaks RV resort reviews

We stayed there. It's not a bad place. If I was going to be staying for a week I don't know that I would stay there. The sites are smaller, a lot of sand, the cable wasn't very good on the site that we were on, we weren't able to pick up the wi-fi, also we heard the traffic all night long. There are the ruts in the road to alert drivers of a change in the traffic pattern and you'd hear the cars and trucks going over it all night. That was very annoying. We went to Savannah for a long weekend. It was a good place for that. We weren't spending our time at the campground. It was just a place to sleep for the most part. For that it's good. It's right off the highway, only about a mile and a half from I-95.

RE: Monaco Rant

Oh my GOD! That would have been criminal if something had happened to anyone in your family. I'd be raising hell with the manufacturer! God knows I have with our manufacturer and I've only had inconveniences not something that could be a life safety issue. Go with that anger, freak out a little bit at the people responsible. They have nice people at the customer service lines to diffuse your rage, don't let them, go to the top, then go over his head. I'd be writing articles for the RV magazines. It's only slander if it isn't true.

RE: Toad covers or protectors

Fleetwood makes a rock guard that they had installed for us. There were issues with the hitch to begin with but they came up with a different way to install it and we have been pretty good. No major issues.

RE: 1st of D's (Donna) questions Coffee Makers

I thought about getting one of those for our RV, but with that water reservoir I just didn't think it'd be a good idea. My husband found a Hamilton Beach Stay or Go. It has two thermal travel cups that it can make or a thermal pot. We've been really happy with this coffee maker.

RE: Learned the hard way

It was suggested to me to make a list. If you have a check list you can just check stuff off as you take care of it and then feel comfortable that you are ready to go. Nice thing about lists is there's always room to add one more item at the bottom. Good luck and I'm impressed that you go it alone to begin with. I'd like to get to that point, but typically I'm the one getting to the campground late.

RE: Seasoning DO in a campfire

Cooks Illustrated had a podcast dealing with cast iron. One of the things that it showed was how to recondition cast iron that had been mistreated. This would probably be what you need. Also check out the Lodge site.

RE: Seaside RV Park in Ormond Beach Florida ...

Oh my gosh! Stay away! We stayed there about two years ago. At that time the rumor was that they were going to be selling the place and turning it into condos. I guess that hasn't happened. I don't know what kind of RV you've got, but there's on 30 amp service or at least there WAS only 30 amp service. We have a class A and needed to go back and forth between the front AC or the rear AC and if the AC was running you couldn't use the microwave. Then the water pressure was so poor we had to fill the fresh water tank and use the water pump to get showers or do dishes. We took our RV in shortly after that trip and they found sand in the water pump. The only place we'd filled up the fresh water tank had been there and typically we don't use the water pump except while traveling to wash hands and flush the toilet. The sites are so tiny and only some of them have sewer. This was a terrible place. Be warned!

RE: OK...this may be obvious to some but....

In our Class A we have an in-dash stereo with an AUX button too, but there was no audio input. We opened an access panel and there were left and right cables for audio input. I went to Radio Shack and got a Y cable. It allows me to have basically a headphone jack to plug my iPod into. Set the radio to AUX and I'm set. We had easy access to this thank God because I asked the dealership and they were clueless. They told me that this radio couldn't be hooked up to an MP3 player. When I got the book out and looked at the wiring guide I could see there was clearly a connection. So now it's just a matter of you finding it.

RE: New RV owners. Happy to finally have one.

First thing that jumped out at me (mind you I'm a grandmother of four little ones), the bolts under the chairs. I'd try to find some way to make them more toddler friendly. I can just see someone getting hurt on those. WELCOME to the forum!
